Meet Rafael, a former client of our Compton clinic. He’s the first of five clients that we are honored to feature and celebrate their courage during May Mental Health Month. Rafael struggled with feelings of sadness and depression – feelings he described as, “dark times.” With therapy and the compassion from his therapist, he began to see the light and found courage within, always keeping his head high. Read his letter below to his therapist, Cynthia, after completing his therapy treatment.
“To Cynthia,
I knew this departure was awaiting me and my family. I can’t thank you enough for all the support you gave to me and my family. I want to let you know that you saved a life, which my family and friends find truly grateful. Every week I would get ready to release all my feelings and emotions to my beloved therapist. You would guide me and help me process the difficulties life sometimes holds. In every hard situation, I’ll use the techniques you have engraved into me. With every anxious, stressing, traumatizing, and depressing situation, I’ll think of Cynthia’s knowledge to help cope with these hardships. Along with my friends and families, you know me regarding my personality, and compulsions, but you taught me that everything will eventually be alright. I’ll remember all the stressors, laughs, and the millions of questions I asked you during session. Every session was a part of growth within myself. If anything I’m sorry for always bugging you with my psychological questions. I don’t know where I would be right now in this exact moment if it wasn’t for your help. I wish you the very best in life. I hope for a lot of blessings toward you and your family. I wish any of your future clients the best as well. Once again, thank you so much for your help, my family and I will forever be grateful for you. Thank you, Ana, Dr. Kalan, and everyone at The Center for all the help. My family wishes you the very best. Thank you Cynthia.
Rafael V.”
