“We have always held to the hope, the belief, the conviction that there is a better life, a better world, beyond the horizon.” – Franklin D. Roosevelt
The Guidance Center knew this holiday season would be hard on many of our clients and their families. Many live in poverty and face financial hardships and the COVID-19 pandemic has only caused their hardships to grow. We knew they would need our help.
What we didn’t know, is how much help we would be able to give them.
Year after year our generous donors sign up to adopt a family in need through our Adopt-A-Family program. This program matches a donor to a family in need to help provide a brighter holiday. In light of the many challenges 2020 has brought, we were prepared that our donors might not be able to give as much as they have in the past. Even still, we were going to do our best to help as many families as we could.
Slowly, members of the community and local businesses started signing up and before we knew it 89 donors had adopted 117 families — the most Guidance Center families adopted . . . ever!
To say our agency was overwhelmed by the generosity of this community would be an understatement. This was exactly the hope our families needed during a very tough and challenging year.
So thank you!
Thank you for taking the stress away from a single mother and helping her put presents underneath the Christmas tree. Thank you for helping a father, who lost his job during COVID-19, have gifts to share with his children. Thank you for putting smiles on these children’s faces and joy in their hearts.
Thank you for sharing hope with us all.
